ISM ® ’s Non-Manufacturing New Orders Index registered 63.1 percent, an increase of 6.9 percentage points from the January reading of 56.2 percent. This indicates that new orders contracted after growing for one month. ISM ® ’s New Orders Index registered 47.3 percent in September, an increase of 0.1 percentage point when compared to the 47.2 percent reported for August. This indicates that new orders contracted for the second month in a row. “Aside from last month, this is the lowest reading since June 2012, when the New Orders Index registered 47.2 percent.
